Test Polishing

Kaiser's new name should be road rash. This 63 year old trailer has lived a life based on its skin. If only he could tell stories. We are in the midst of polishing the exterior and accepting that he is dented and scratched up. We love him anyway.

creating the template for the original swoosh, the rims have been painted.

what we had to start with, paint splatters, dents and scratches

Martin is testing the polish (before we cleaned the skin up)

we used acetone to clean the paint splatters off

The test panel (and probably the most dented section, except for the huge gouge on the other side)
what the mirror finish will eventually look like all over.

Accessories

I brought a few of our accessories to spice up the pictures a little bit, and to see if they worked with the trailer. Wouldn't want to have to go do some more shopping.....;)

Our friend Vince (the airstream owner) has turned me on to wood blinds in lieu of curtains, I just have to convince Martin.

Exterior Updates

The exterior has the most work left of our little project. Many of the dents have been hammered out, but not all and they never will be. The door has been rebuilt and reinstalled. A new threshold using aluminum angle has also been installed. This is the one part of the floor that get the most use and heaviest point loads. The threshold has really made the floor much more sturdy.

Nightime Interior

We watched episodes of Mad Men in our Crown Travel Trailer this weekend. I got to see some of the LED lights in action. We used the shelf that we added for the iPad. LED's were added to the overhead compartment and to shine down as well as inside the cabinet. An LED was also added to the closet for a nighttime light by the bed. These will run on battery power.
